1997
Owe Sporrong and Marcel van der Meyden open the first Newport shop in Sveavägen in Stockholm.
1999
Newport takes the leap into producing its own bed linens and other soft furnishings, such as terrycloth towels, dressing gowns, and throw blankets.
2001
Newport opens its second shop, inside the Nordiska Kompaniet department store (NK), with 5 inspiring rooms decorated in the quintessential “Newport Style”.
2008
“The Newport Style” has become a catchphrase in the interior design world, and the NK store in Stockholm is expanded to twice its original size.
2012
Newport opens a store in Norrköping, expanding its product range and placing a greater emphasis on the sale of exclusive interior design items.
2012
To meet the high demand for exclusive and top-quality furniture, Newport starts manufacturing its own furniture.
2012
A new store opens in the Bromma Blocks shopping centre. Due to the galleria’s unique layout, in which foot traffic is channelled through the shops, the Newport store is an immediate success.
2013
Newport opens a store in Linköping, where interior design items and furniture are brought together to create inspiring home environments.
2013
Newport has a booth at one of the world’s largest trade fairs for home furnishings, held in Paris. With this step, the company starts marketing itself to international retailers.
2015
Newport opens a shop in central Västerås with a focus on its range of interior design details and selected pieces of furniture.
2015
Newport launches its webshop, with a product range of over 3000 items. By the end of the year, the webshop has become Newport’s most successful sales channel.
2017
Just in time for Christmas, Newport opens a shop in one of the world’s top-ranked ski resorts – Åre.
2017
Newport opens its first Premium Outlet in Västerås. The 400 m2 store is packed with fine interior design items, fine furniture, and sample sales.
2018
Newport launches a new concept, Newport Design Studio, through which company’s own interior designers help our customers throughout Europe with their interior design projects.

A new flagship store opens in Norrköping’s Linden shopping centre! 350 m2 brimming with unique and hand-chosen furniture, lighting, textiles, and interior design items from every corner of the globe.
2019
Newport opens its new concept store, Newport Atelier, in Norrköping’s Linden shopping centre. The boutique gives Newport’s unique signature items the spotlight they deserve, with enticing displays and grand home environments.
2020
Newport’s flagship store at NK Stockholm undergoes an extensive renovation. The transformation is nothing short of extraordinary. Furniture and interior design items are displayed in magnificent home environments. The company’s concept store, Newport Atelier, also moves into the newly renovated flagship premises.

Newport opens one of Sweden’s largest interior design outlets in Norrköping’s Ingelsta shopping centre! 1700 m2 brimming with furniture, luxury design, and timeless home furnishings, always discounted 20-70%.
2021
Newport's webshop takes the first step outside of Sweden and is launched in Finland for customers to order exclusive furniture and interior details.

Newport's classic Christmas Shop gets a lift and expands its space at NK in Stockholm. Customers are welcomed into a 300 square meter magical world filled with Christmas decorations, gifts, and inspiration. A tradition that has become a appreciated feature during Christmas time.
2022
Newport continues to expand in the Nordic region, and in 2022, a Norwegian webshop is opened.
2023
In Gothenburg, the doors open to a 260 square meter store at Nordiska Kompaniet. The new store initially opens as a traditional Newport Christmas Shop.
2023
Newport takes the step into Europe and launches a European webshop. In 2023, webshops are also launched in the Netherlands and Denmark.
2024
Newport opens a store in Steninge slottsby. The store has an impressive area of 900 square meters and offers a unique meeting place where home decor meets culture and historical heritage.
