Newport Travel Guide
CHAMPAGNE VILLAGE
The mountain village of Aspen in scenic Colorado is one of the most classic ski resorts in the United States. Celebrities flock to the ski resort to enjoy both wonderful champagne powder on the slopes and chilled champagne in their glasses.
LUXURY STYLE
Many believe that the famous Aspen brand unites the best of both worlds: A European sense of style, luxury and fine cuisine with top-notch North American service. Many celebrities own sumptuous holiday homes in Aspen, at the airport private jets are parked in a row, and all the world’s most exclusive luxury brands have at least one boutique here. The celebrities with a fondness for the old mining town include members of the Kennedy family and Gunnar Sachs, son of the legendary Brigitte Bardot and Gunter Sachs.
MIGHTY ROCKY MOUNTAIN
Don’t be surprised if you spot celebrities like Mariah Carey or Donald Trump sitting in one of the luxury restaurants or strolling along Main Street past the Gucci, Burberry, and Ralph Lauren boutiques. Aspen is the most popular ski resort in western Colorado and is often compared to Switzerland’s St. Moritz . Yet many find that Aspen offers a much more laid-back atmosphere. Here, visitors enjoy more than 300 days of sunshine a year and some of the Rocky Mountains’ highest peaks.
LIGHT SNOW
Aspen was founded in 1879 as a mining town during the silver rush and became a ski resort after World War II. The village got its name from the many aspen trees that grow in the area. It is part of the vast Snowmass Area and has four mountains: Aspen Mountain, Buttermilk, Snowmass and Aspen Highlands – all with their own unique style. Between them they offer everything from steep, advanced pistes for the extreme skier to green, beautiful slopes for the beginner. In Aspen you will find the light, dry snow for which the United States is world-famous: so-called “champagne powder”. Many skiers make the pilgrimage to Aspen solely because of this fabulous snow.
